Redirect funding instead. Funding for local police departments should go to training and paying police officers instead of having the best and newest weapons. However, more funding should be directed to social and community programs so they can support the duties of police officers and take some of the load off their backs.

The police need to not be given access to such militarized weapons and there should be police not going to situations where they are not trained, but rather have social workers and professionals be sent to these situations.
