Ford-Kenya

The Ford-Kenya political party, an acronym for the Forum for the Restoration of Democracy-Kenya, is a significant political entity in Kenya's multi-party landscape. It was established in the early 1990s as part of the broader movement towards multi-party democracy in Kenya, a period marked by intense political activism against the single-party rule of the Kenya African National Union (KANU). Ford-Kenya emerged from a split within the original Forum for the Restoration of Democracy (FORD), a coalition of opposition leaders and activists who were united in their opposition to the autocra…  tic regime of President Daniel arap Moi. The split led to the formation of two factions: Ford-Kenya and Ford-Asili.

Ford-Kenya has historically been associated with the promotion of democratic values, social justice, and human rights. It advocates for the rule of law, transparency in government, and the equitable distribution of resources. The party has a strong base of support in Western Kenya, particularly among the Luhya community, but it has also sought to establish a national footprint by appealing to a broad spectrum of Kenyan voters with its policies and ideology.
